The Spacemen

The following information was compiled and based on data supplied by Thomas Irschick . He was the founder of “The Spacemen (1962-1967) as well as their lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player. Additional information was supplied by Hannes Knäse who was the bands drummer (1964-1967). Photos and sound tracks were supplied by Thomas Irschick and Hannes Knäse.

Livemusic by The Spacemen

1965/66 The Spacemen played regularly on stage (Deck 5) at the Riverboat club. One evening Lutz Dreyer, who occasionally accompanied the band by playing the Tambourine, appeared with a “SABA” reel to reel tape recorder and two microphones and recorded 26 titles during a live performance of the band. These titles were digitalized and represent today a “jewel” as the true sound of live rock-music during the “sixties” of the last century in Berlin. Herewith a selection of the latter:
